NEW FAMILIES
Curriculum: Frog Street Press
All curriculum and programs are aimed at one thing: igniting the minds of young children by fostering their academic, social and emotional growth through purposeful lessons and materials that intentionally produce a positive outcome. Our comprehensive, research-based programs integrate instruction across developmental domains and early learning disciplines.
Numerous research studies have shown that children who attend higher-quality early learning programs are more prepared for school entry than children who do not attend high-quality programs. Child care and early learning programs that achieve Texas Rising Star certification, offering quality care that exceeds the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Child Care Regulation (CCR) minimum standards, are in a better position to positively affect the physical, social-emotional, and cognitive development of children. As programs advance through the levels of Texas Rising Star certification, they are increasingly able to positively affect the development of the children they serve daily. The CLC holds a FOUR STAR certification, the highest recognized.
Conscious Discipline is an evidence-based, trauma-informed approach. It is recognized by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s (SAMHSA’s) National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP), and received high ratings in 8 of 10 categories in a Harvard analysis of the nation’s top 25 social-emotional learning programs. The Harvard study’s authors say, “Conscious Discipline provides an array of behavior management strategies and classroom structures that teachers can use to turn everyday situations into learning opportunities.”
Our core methodology is based on four essential components that are scientifically and practically designed for success: BRAIN STATE METHOD, SEVEN POWERS FOR CONSCIOUS ADULTS, CREATING THE SCHOOL FAMILY, SEVEN SKILLS OF DISCIPLINE.
Daily Library Time
Starting in our Toddler 1 classroom, students will have a daily library time where they will read and complete S.T.E.A.M activities that go along with what they are reading. These activities engage Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.
Our Librarian will also conduct weekly Bible Lessons where students will use their knowledge of S.T.E.A.M to interact with the story of the week! Devotional Bible Verses are posted on the DAILY LIFE IN THE CLC page.
Weekly Spanish Lessons
Beginning in our Three year old class, students have Spanish with Senora Neli twice a week!
Senora Neli teaches our students Spanish words that compliment what they are learning that week.
